Transportation Engineer
RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Transportation Engineer. This is a Full Time, Direct Hire, Remote opportunity with our client.

Overview of YOUR role as a Transportation Engineer:

Your tasks include all aspects of roadway design including roadways, intersections, drainage, utilities research and coordination, right-of-way coordination and permits, quantity take-offs and cost estimates, signing and pavement marking plans, traffic control, report writing, and preparation of contract plans.

As a Transportation Engineer, YOU will:
- Roadway geometric design and modeling.
- Preparation of detailed construction plans and contract documents.
- Prepares and checks design computations, design plans, and quantity estimates.

YOU are the ideal Transportation Engineer candidate if you have:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Must possess at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Requires an Iowa Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Must be proficient with Microstation and Geopak Civil Engineering Suite, including Open Roads Technology. Open Roads Designer experience is a plus.
- Must be proficient in horizontal and vertical roadway geometrics and have experience in developing and manipulating roadway corridor models.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Must be proficient in using Microstation to prepare design documents. Assists designers/technicians in creating contract drawings.
- Strong oral communication and technical writing skills.
- Knowledge and experience with the IowaDOT including the Road Design Manual is a plus.

Physical (Outdoor) Substation Group Lead
RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Physical (Outdoor) Substation Group Lead in Knoxville, TN. This is a full time, direct hire, onsite position with our client.

Overview of YOUR role as a Physical (Outdoor) Substation Group Lead:

RCS seeks a Physical (Outdoor) Substation Group Lead who will be responsible for overseeing the design of deliverables associated with substation physical/outdoor design projects. Assigned tasks will include managing a small team of engineers, designers, and/or drafters who are responsible for the creation of substation engineering packages utilizing MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Inventor. This position will report to the Program Manager.

As a Physical (Outdoor) Substation Group Lead:
- Manage a small team of individual contributors (2-5 team members).
- Manage assigned Physical projects to meet schedule & budget while producing high quality design products.
- The selected candidate will be responsible for producing all engineering deliverables with a high level of quality.
- Provide detailed checking (QA/QC) of all engineering deliverables.
- Ensure that Mesa’s quality assurance plan is implemented and followed on all projects to ensure a base level of quality is maintained.
- Perform occasional site visits as needed. Normally less than 5% annually.
- Perform and oversee scoping of various proposed substation upgrades.
- Mentor all assigned direct reports. Teach lesser experienced employees the nuances of Substation Physical engineering and design.
- Coordinate design activities with other disciplines as required to establish a complete design package.
- Perform or check supporting calculations (Grounding, Lighting, AC/DC, and Lightning Protection)
- Assists project or program managers in estimating projects and developing scope of work for assigned projects.
- Identifies training needs for staff and budgets, plans, coordinates, and conducts training as required.
- Evaluates work performance of personnel and provides feedback to direct supervision.
- PE or ability to obtain PE within 2 years is a strong advantage but not required. The successful candidate may eventually PE stamp construction prints.

As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer YOU will:
- Independently evaluates, selects and applies engineering principles, practices, techniques, procedures, industry codes and standards to projects.
- Perform intermediate complexity engineering designs including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selection
- Develop mechanical engineering design package documents including design notes, reports, flow modelling summaries, process flow diagram, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s), sketches, plan drawings, section drawings, isometrics, pipe supports, pipe stress analysis, datasheets, details, BOM’s, specifications, 3D model routing recommendations, and other related documents.

YOU are the ideal Sr. Mechanical Engineer candidate if you have:
- Bachelor degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering
- 6 to 10 years experience
- PE license (Professional Engineer)
- Expert knowledge in code standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of mechanical design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA).
- Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). Additional software skills including Bluebeam, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Vault, Plant3D, Inventor, ReCap, Solidworks, FARO Scene, and other 3D rendering programs preferred.

Daily tasks will include design support for additions and modifications to power generation related structures including:
- Mechanical and electrical equipment supports, racks, foundations, and anchorages
- Pre-engineered metal building foundations
- Steel-framed, concrete, or masonry buildings

As a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer YOU will:
- Preparation and completion of discipline engineering designs and supporting documents such as design criteria, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Assist in the definition of project objectives, preparation of design estimates, and definition of project requirements and routine design approaches.
- Responsible for scoping, estimating, organizing, executing, and coordinating engineering projects, which may have unique or complex technical or project execution requirements.
- Performs technical and coordination checking review of deliverables and other project documents and ensures deliverables comply with company procedures and applicable design requirements.
- Must be capable of preparing/checking calculations using engineering formulas and skills or using specific structural analysis software such as STAAD, Risa, Enercalc, etc.
- Should have experience with calculations using MathCAD and Excel.
- Must have knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE-7, AISC 360, AISC 341, and ACI 318.
- Must be willing to travel on a regular basis (primarily day trips, with some overnights), mostly within California.
- Assists in the resolution of construction issues, supporting design staff to resolve problems and concerns in a timely fashion.
YOU are the ideal Senior Civil/Structural Engineer candidate if you have:

- 8+ years of experience
- California PE or ability to obtain within 6 months. Structural PE preferred.

Overview of YOUR role as a P&C Substation Engineer:

RCS is seeking a Protection & Controls (P&C) Substation Engineer who will be responsible for the design and checking of deliverables associated with substation P&C design projects. Assigned tasks will include the checks, creation and revision of panel front views, AC & DC elementaries, wiring diagrams, and yard equipment diagrams using MicroStation and AutoCAD. At times job duties will require coordinating with project managers, and client to develop proposal documents and estimates to facilitate bidding on work. Work will mostly center around modifications and upgrades in existing facilities.

As a Sr Electrical Engineer YOU will:
- Lead the engineering efforts on project design through the different project milestones from start to finish
- Work and coordinating with project managers to develop proposal documents and estimates for bidding or change orders

Overview of YOUR role as a Senior Relay Protection & Studies Engineer:

RCS seeks a Senior Relay Protection & Studies Engineer that will be responsible for both relay settings and studies associated with substation P&C design projects supporting large electric utility clients as well as renewable projects. Primarily, the renewable projects are connecting utility scale solar farms, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and large wind farms to the connecting utility through substations.

As a Senior Relay Protection & Studies Engineer YOU will:
- Preparing reports documenting the process and results of the studies performed
- Performing reviews of studies performed by others and provide constructive feedback
- Working with clients to assist them in meeting their compliance requirements
- Mentoring less experienced associates to help them progress
- Utilizing good verbal and written communication skills with team members and clients
- Working with the Engineering Manager and Principal Engineer to define project objectives, prepare design estimates, and define project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects.
- Capable of acting as Lead Engineer on complex studies which require interfacing with the client, other engineering firms, and other departments. This includes the identification of study input requirements and coordinating the collection of the input information and data.
- Conceptualizing the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project or have overall responsibility for the engineering work on a routine project.
- Exercising judgment in the independent evaluation selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Preparing and verifying calculations using engineering formulas and skills or application specific software as required.
- Managing personal task assignments, and for designated team members to ensure adherence to scope, schedule and budget.
- Monitoring project execution milestones and schedules to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
- Performing technical and coordination checking/ review of deliverables and other project or study documents.
- Accepting responsibility for technical adequacy of deliverables designed or checked deliverables.

As a Distribution Engineer/Designer YOU will:
- Evaluate electrical power systems and design overhead and underground distribution circuits using current utility standards; Projects range from low voltage to high voltage designs
- Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and 3rd party owners for joint-owned poles to obtain permits for projects
- Perform quality control and encourage safe work practices while maintaining compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget
- Establish and maintain a working relationship with internal teams (sales rep, coordinator, billing, leadership team)
- Visit job sites; perform inspections, determine and minimize all hazards to installation, return to the office to perform engineering design work and share this information with construction team
- Provide updates to customer(s) regarding project progress and schedule
- Develop design cost estimates utilizing estimating systems to create an accurate value of materials and labor
- Coordinate design/engineering/estimating deliverables ensuring on-time delivery to the client
- Verify all construction charges upon completion and reconcile material and other charges as necessary
- Close jobs in a timely manner and meet monthly compliance requirements
- Assist other departments with project designs, site visits and project closeouts when needed
- Perform reviews of work by other engineers for submittal to clients such as: structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker
- Responsible for processing all documentation in accordance with compliance requirements
YOU are the ideal Distribution Engineer/Designer if you have:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering
- Knowledge of NESC, electrical distribution design philosophy, engineering standards and practices, and regulatory requirements
- High aptitude of analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Use creative problem-solving skills to identify complex work designs
- Willingness to learn and work in a collaborative team environment
- Comply with Client Safety requirements as well as design and quality expectations
- Take personal responsibility for distribution projects and problems
- Must be able to build positive relationships and work well with diverse groups, tailoring communication methods appropriately for customers, covered employees, supervision, and management

Overview of YOUR role as a Senior Mechanical Engineer:

The Mechanical Engineer role is responsible for determining the technical approach, validating the design criteria, directing more junior staff, and performing detailed design tasks such as calculations, specifications, and drawing preparation. This individual will be expected to perform design duties with minimal supervision and have the ability to communicate effectively within a team environment.

As a Mechanical Engineer YOU will:
- Serves as a technical liaison with clients on project efforts and coordinates technical efforts within discipline areas. Participate in mechanical design development from conceptual design through detailed design, this includes coordinating with other team or project members including other disciplines (structural, electrical, civil, and I&C).
- Support preparation of engineering and cost estimating reports through collection and analysis of data for

- Lead and mentor our 2D/3D designers and less experienced engineers to develop designs and prepare drawings for project

- Perform or assist with occasional field or site visits for observations, data collection, and documentation efforts for clients and/or project needs.
- Experience with H2 fuel systems is a plus.
- Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of construction events.
- Project experience as a task lead, project engineer, or project manager is a plus.
- Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Department Manager or Project
