  • Welding Inspector

    RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Welding Inspector in the Greater Philadelphia Area. This is a full-time, contract, hybrid field/office assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation, and paid holidays.

    Overview of YOUR role as a Welding Inspector

    As a Welding Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of pipeline and gas distribution construction projects. You will be responsible for monitoring contractor performance, verifying adherence to federal regulations (including 49 C.F.R. Part 192), and overseeing welding activities in the field. You’ll apply your industry knowledge to make compliance determinations, issue stop work orders when necessary and maintain detailed records of inspection results.

    As a Welding Inspector YOU will:

    • Oversee field activities performed by contracting crews to ensure compliance with OSHA, 49 C.F.R. Part 192, and company construction standards.

    • Utilize independent judgment to determine contractor compliance with welding and safety procedures and issue stop work orders when required.

    • Perform welding and pipeline quality control inspections, applying standards and codes to confirm work meets regulatory expectations.

    • Coordinate Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manual compliance with federal safety laws.

    • Conduct daily safety inspections and ensure activities are in accordance with OSHA and client standards.

    • Document all field observations, record safety and efficiency compliance, and maintain pipe material data including grade and heat number.

    • Participate in daily safety briefings (e.g., tailgate meetings, JSA reviews) and lead welders to ensure adherence to approved procedures.

    • Observe, document, and report daily construction activity and maintain accurate project records.

    • Travel to various job sites, including overnight stays, and attend meetings as required.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    YOU are the ideal Welding Inspector candidate if you have:

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the utility, pipeline, or related industry.

    • AWS CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) or CPWI certification (required).

    • Knowledge of pipeline construction and compliance inspection per 49 C.F.R. Part 192.

    • Experience working with federal safety and quality standards in gas transmission and distribution systems.


    It’s a BONUS if you have:

    • API 1169 certification.

    • Knowledge of various NDT techniques (UT, RT, MT, PT, visual inspection).

    • Proficiency in interpreting welding procedure specifications (WPS) and qualification records (PQR).

    • Skill in recognizing welding defects and determining proper corrective action.

    • Excellent documentation and reporting skills.

    • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

    • A high level of attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to build rapport and lead field personnel.

  • Transportation Construction Inspector

    RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Transportation Construction Inspector in Harvard, IL. This is a Contract  opportunity with our client.

    Overview of YOUR role as a Construction Inspector:

    This position will perform on-site daily observation of the contractor’s construction work and compare the work product to the project’s approved plans and specifications.

    As a Construction Inspector, YOU will:

    • Performs on site-daily observation of the contractor’s construction work and compares the work product to the project’s approved plans and specifications
    • Prepares reports documenting progress of the Contractor’s work and the payment thereof
    • Physically performs field-required tests
    • Assures the quality of the contractor’s work
    • Maintains daily logs of inspections and reviews any discrepancies with the proper parties
    • Communicates all issues with the proper project team members expeditiously

    YOU are the ideal Construction Inspector candidate if you have:

    • Construction experience within the State of Illinois and familiarity with Illinois DOT construction services policies and procedures
    • Experience with IDOT policies and procedures for highway construction field work is required
    • This job requires good communication and documentation skills (MS Word, Internet) and an individual capable of performing with minimal supervision
    • A general knowledge of construction techniques and an ability to read plans and specifications is mandatory
