RCS Staffing has an immediate need for an Power Engineering Technologist in Lakewood, CO. This is a contract to hire, onsite position with our client.
Overview of YOUR role as a Power Engineering Technologist:
As a Power Engineering Technologist, you will be responsible for supporting utility design and engineering activities, including electric and gas distribution systems. You will work with various design platforms, interpret as-built drawings, and participate in field activities, ensuring designs meet industry standards and customer specifications.
As a Power Engineering Technologist YOU will:
- Understand electric distribution components like poles, transformers, conductors, fuses, and switches.
- Be familiar with gas distribution concepts such as mains, service lines, regulators, meters, and valve placements.
- Use design software such as GIS, ArcGIS, Smallworld, GE Design Manager, and SAP to interpret and update designs.
- Utilize GPS and mobile devices for data collection when required.
- Read utility maps, plat maps, and customer site plans to ensure accurate design and placement.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and PPE requirements.
- Travel to job sites and perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.
YOU are the ideal Power Engineering Technologist candidate if you have:
- An Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Energy Systems, Drafting/Design, or GIS/Surveying or equivalent technical diploma/certificate with field exposure.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience in utilities, with internship or co-op experience preferred.
- Knowledge or hands-on experience with NESC, NERC regulations.
- Strong communication skills to explain design decisions to customers, utility reps, and internal teams.
- A self-starter attitude, able to follow standard design processes and escalate issues when necessary.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining detailed documentation.
It’s a BONUS if you have:
- Experience working with design platforms such as GIS, ArcGIS, Smallworld, GE Design Manager, SAP.
- Prior experience in customer service or working with utility providers, contractors, or engineering firms.
- Familiarity with working in both urban and rural environments, dealing with residential and commercial customers.
