RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Substation Physical Engineer in Fort Mill, SC. This is a full time, direct hire, office based position with our client. This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation, and holidays.

Overview of YOUR role as a Substation Physical Engineer
Provide substation physical engineering, technical support, and supervision to a Transmission Substation engineering and design team for the purpose of delivering safe, cost-effective, and quality engineering and design services. You will provide technical competency and direction on complex engineering and technical problems for a range of utility substation projects, battery energy storage systems, and solar collector substations. This role includes both direct billable client work (project work) and project management support. You will lead discipline work, perform responsible charge engineering duties, and manage project schedules and budgets, as well as support proposal development and business development efforts.

As a Substation Physical Engineer YOU will:
• Provide engineering/technical expertise in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems
• Effectively plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities
• Produce thorough, timely, and accurate technical reports, documentation, and calculations
• Support continuous improvement of job-related engineering, technical, and professional knowledge
• Understand and create substation physical arrangement drawing packages for construction
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers and interact with internal engineers
• Monitor deliverables, schedules, and present solutions to clients

YOU are the ideal Substation Physical Engineer candidate if you have:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) from an ABET-accredited institution
• 5-7 years of experience in power delivery engineering in the electrical industry
• Ability to obtain a Professional Engineering (PE) license within one year
• Strong understanding of substation design, including equipment arrangements, grounding, and construction requirements
• Experience creating substation physical design project scopes, estimates, and schedules
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents such as drawings, specifications, and standards

It’s a BONUS if you have:
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with NCEES record
• Advanced understanding of substation design for utility stations up to 500kV
• Ability to perform bus calculations, lightning protection calculations, and use software for ground grid designs
• Experience leading a team of engineers and designers
• Knowledge of installation requirements for high voltage transformers, disconnect switches, breakers, and other equipment
• Field experience in construction environments implementing or verifying engineering drawings

RCS Staffing has an immediate need for an Transmission Line Engineer in Fort Mill, SC. This is a Full-Time, Direct Hire, Onsite assignment with our client. 

Overview of YOUR role as an Engineer III:
You will provide transmission line design, engineering, technical support, and oversight to a transmission engineering and design team for the purpose of delivering safe, cost-effective, and quality engineering and design services.

As an Engineer III YOU will:

• Engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems.
• Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
• Thorough, timely, and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Should be able to understand and create transmission line drawing packages

YOU are the ideal Engineer III candidate if you have:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural or Electrical Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer with NCEES record.
• 2-3 years of electrical utility Transmission Line design experience (as an employee, contractor, or consultant) with a working knowledge of High Voltage Transmission line design at voltage of 69kV and higher. 
• MUST have relevant professional experience with PLS CADD (1 year of experience or had a TLine internship)
• Technical competency in all aspects of Transmission Line utility design including general arrangement and layout of the structures; understanding of the functions and application of all Line components (hardware, poles, permits, survey, clearances, loading); understanding of foundation design, grounding, lightning and shielding protection, sag and tension limits; etc.
• Knowledgeable of a complete a detailed bill of material showing all materials required for the construction of Transmission Lines.
• Ability to ensure that a complete design package (drawings, bill of materials, conduit lists, construction specifications, etc.) are delivered to the client within budget and on time with a high level of quality.
• Working knowledge of NESC, ASCE, ACI and IEEE.
• Working knowledge and experience to perform:
  • PLS CADD Line design
  • PLS POLE structure design.
  • MFAD Foundation design.
  • Total installed cost estimating
  • Specifications and Contract documents.
• Oversee the work of junior staff and mentor designers/drafters
• Collaborate, communicate, and liaise effectively with other design disciplines, colleagues, construction contractors, consultants, materials suppliers, & clients
• Visit sites, advise on transmission line engineering issues, and modify design to solve issues during construction
• Provide general project management capabilities to coordinate staff, assign tasks, and accomplish projects in an efficient manner
• Assist the Project Manager in the preparation and review of proposals and contracts
• Support design needs of permitting activities
• Experience working in a field or construction environment implementing or verifying engineering drawings.
